It’s nowhere near as good as the hard cardboard flat boxes I received from Printique, Mpix, and Nations Photo Lab. My Target Photo order arrived in a paper envelope, the least protective shipping materials of any of the services I’ve tested. For example, Walmart Photo offers foil printing and linen stock and folding cards, and it charges as little as 50 cents each, with one-hour pickup to boot. Unfortunately, folding cards aren't on offer, and card stock and printing options are limited compared with what competitors offer. The drag-and-drop card design interface is a pleasure to work in, and plenty of good-looking templates are available. The $1.50 gets you a flat, double-side-printed 5-by-7 matte card. That price holds whether you're ordering just one or a hundred, which is unusual because most services offer a discount for larger quantities. You can order personalized holiday cards and other greeting cards from Target, starting at the very reasonable price of $1.50 per card. Snapfish’s biggest canvas offering is 16-by-40, which costs $206.
That compares well with CanvasPop's $271 price for the same size. There's a good selection of large-format print options, too, including wood and metal-backed prints as well as canvases up to 36-by-36 inches in size, which will run you $247. For outrageous printing options, including dog food bowls and socks, take a look at Shutterfly's photo gift section. It's a good selection, though it doesn't extend to such oddball items as shower curtains and neckties, which some services offer. Other photo-emblazoned gift options include beach towels ($49.99), face masks, phone cases, calendars, puzzles, and (of course) coffee mugs.
You can order magnets, mouse pads, and coasters embellished with your pictures. Target Photo lets you print your pictures on other items, aside from just photo paper. What Are Target Photo's Gift and Card Options? By comparison, Nations Photo Lab's shipping cost for my order was just $4.95, Mpix charges $4.99, and Snapfish was at $4.98. The $18.17 Express service trims three days off that, and with Rush shipping for $38.17, I could have gotten the pictures in three days’ time.

The lowest shipping price for my order of 22 4-by-6s and two 8-by-10s was the $12.17 Economy Plus option, with a 10-day delivery wait. Shipping prices may cause a bit of sticker shock. Nor can you have the filenames or custom text printed on the back of your photos, as you can with Printique and Mpix. Target doesn't offer color-correction tools, as Nations Photo Lab does. CVS Photo, Snapfish, and Walgreens rejected it. On the plus side, I had no problem uploading a 108-megapixel shot from my Samsung Galaxy S21 Ultra. Mpix, for example, only allows JPG, while Nations Photo Lab and Printique add TIFF support, which pros will appreciate. You can upload GIF, JPG, PNG files-more than some other services allow. I tested with a mixed bag of portraits and landscapes, bright and dark. You can complete the whole process without even creating an online account, but I don't recommend doing this, since you won't be able to track your orders on the site. Tapping on one of the thumbnail images opens an Edit view of the picture, but the only editing options are repositioning, cropping, and rotating. You can save an order for later if you’re not ready to purchase right away. Once you select a batch of pictures, you can change the print sizes and quantities for each individually or for all at once.
You can upload photos from your computer, but there's no option to get them from your online accounts such as Facebook, Google Photos, or Instagram, as many services offer.
